text: 'And it''s free!
It was an incredibly rich exhibit.
The display method, making use of puppets and videos, was easy to understand.
The explanations of the contents were systematically organized, so even I was able to understand them.
It was much easier to understand than the Kyushu National Museum,
The content was in-depth,
The presentation was careful,
The exhibits were designed to keep the viewer engaged,
It was very interesting.
When I visited, in addition to the permanent exhibit, there was a special exhibit, and although it only lasted one room,
it displayed the riverbank of an abandoned temple.
In this exhibit, there was a life-size line drawing of a shii-o (a decorative ornament) drawn on paper so you could get an idea of its size.
I was impressed that they could come up with such an exhibit without spending a lot of money.
There was also a room dedicated to the folklore of Kasuga City.
This is a museum that is definitely worth visiting.'

text: 'Speaking of Nakoku, there''s the "Golden Seal" (though there''s also a theory that "I-no" is pronounced "ito"), which can be seen at the Fukuoka City Museum. The appeal of this museum is that it allows you to imagine what kind of country Nakoku was. The Suku Okamoto Ruins in this area are thought to be the center of Nakoku.
I personally found the exhibit described as the "Nakoku Technopolis" particularly fascinating. The remains of bronze, iron, and glass workshops are scattered close together in this area, revealing an astonishing concentration of advanced technology for Japan at the time. When you imagine that the people of Nakoku produced weapons and ornaments in this area, it''s easy to imagine their prosperity.
Another impressive exhibit was the "Gold" (scale weight). The excavated Gold suggests that the Yayoi people used the decimal system. It makes sense that the decimal system would have emerged naturally from the number of fingers, but I found it fascinating to be able to decipher this from actual tools.
One item you might easily miss is a pair of gold earrings excavated from the Hihaizuka Tomb, a Kofun period (1603-1868). While the display is unremarkable, a pair is apparently housed at the Tokyo National Museum. Seeing these earrings, I was reminded of the pair I saw at the Iwatoyama Historical and Cultural Exchange Center excavated from the Tateyamayama Tomb Group. Their similar shape led me to imagine that these also came across the sea via a similar route, fueling my imagination of ancient times.
Outside the museum, there are two white dome-shaped roofed buildings where you can view the jar burial tombs in their excavated state. A large stone that was placed atop the tomb of the King of Nakoku is also on display. While it''s a little far from its original location (listed on Google Maps as "King of Nakoku Tomb (Remains of the Upper Stone of the Tomb)"), it''s only a five-minute walk from Kumano Shrine.'

text: 'I was surprised to find such a wonderful, historically significant facility on a hill just off the main road. It''s packed with content, too. The Paleolithic, Jomon, Yayoi, and Kofun periods are arranged side by side, making it easy to understand, and you can learn about the history of how ruins have been treated up to the present day, with a solid archaeological approach.
The exhibits on the slightly elevated hill and the walking paths provide a pleasant flow of visitors.
You can also see planes making gyro landings at Fukuoka Airport, making it a great spot to take children.'

text: The Nakoku no Oka Historical Museum is a wonderful facility that conveys the mysterious history of the Nakoku region of ancient Japan in an easy-to-understand and fascinating way. Through valuable excavated items and elaborate dioramas, you can get a close-up look at the lives and culture of the people of that time. It's a place full of discoveries that can be enjoyed by history buffs and non-history buffs alike.

text: 'Free for all this?!
I think they should charge an admission fee!
The exhibits were wonderful (and easy to understand), and I immediately understood what the Suku Okamoto Ruins were.
The pamphlet I was given was also very well-organized. 👌
Simply put, it''s the tomb of a Nakoku chief and the remains of a group of bronze, iron, and glass workshops.
(To borrow the museum''s phrase, it''s a "Yayoi period industrial complex"!)
This is a pioneering site for bronze manufacturing in Japan!
Kasuga City has an image of being a new town,
but you can really feel the city''s enthusiasm for spreading the word that "No, no, it was once the center of Nakoku!"
The fact that it''s free also shows their desire to expose the site to the public, both inside and outside the city.
The facility is very open (you can just drop in), and they also hold workshops for elementary school students, so the seeds are being sown and the soil is being prepared to increase the number of people interested in local history and archaeology.'
