みずみずしい風景の中にぽつんと置かれた1本のボトル、短くも心に響く詩の一節のような言葉。駅の構内で、横長の大きなポスターに目を奪われた経験はないでしょうか。控え目に入れられた商品名から、ようやくそれがある酒の広告であることがわかります。その名は「いいちこ」。大分県宇佐市の酒造メーカー、三和酒類株式会社が1979年から発売するロングセラー商品です。

ポスターをはじめとして、雑誌広告やCMなど、「いいちこ」のプロモーションは単なる宣伝を超え、商品や購買層のイメージづくりに大きく貢献し、その一貫した世界観はデザインの本質を常に提示してきました。これらすべてをプロデュースしているのが、アートディレクターの河北秀也（1947-）です。
