We fietsten vanaf de camping met het idee: “even naar dat dorpje met die eieren.”

Wat volgde was een pelgrimage door boerenlucht, vergeelde ANWB-bordjes en een

||
bijna-moment met een das. Els zong al na de eerste kilometer. “Doe de Sound
|
||
of Music dan maar wél,” riep ze.
|
||

||
En dus slingerde ze zingend over de stuw, armen gespreid, jurk in de ketting.
|
||
|

De kinderen klommen op een hooibaal en hielden een debat over wie het eerste
|
||
kind van God was.
|
||
|
||
Niemand won.
|
||
|
||
We kochten eieren. Goedkoop. Nog warm van de kip.
|
||
|
||
Els noemde ze "eierstukken van bezieling".
|
||
|
||
Ik noemde ze lunch.
|
||
|
||
|
||
In het dorp kregen we gratis koffie van iemand die dacht dat we verdwaald waren.
|
||

Misschien waren we dat ook.

||

||

Er is hier een pad naar een kloostertuin, maar we zijn verkeerd gereden en kwamen
|
||
uit op een veld waar een kip naar ons knipoogde.
