The building of the Millet Manuscript Library was built on 1112 Hijri / 1700-1701 A.D. by the Seyyid Feyzullah Efendi from Erzurum , who was the Ottoman Shaykh , as a Hadith Madrasa ( Hadith Sciences School ) . The library was established on April 17th , 1916 by Ali Emîrî Effendi ( 1857-1924 ) who loved his Folks as much as to say , " I have collected these books for my Folks , I give them to my Folks as a present , that''s why my library''s name will be Millet ( Folks ) Library , not Ali Emîrî . " . It is a research and specialization library , where there are rare printed books and Ottoman printed works including collections of Ali Emîrî and Feyzullah Efendi . It has around 30.000 pieces . The library consists of two divisions ; the main building and the madrasah .
