text: 'De website van Museum Tongerlohuys zag er aardig uit. Wel zeer onoverzichtelijk want wat is nu het thema van dit

Dat was ons niet duidelijk.
|
||
|
||
De gok genomen om dit museum te bezoeken. De ingang van het museum verteld ons dat we op de eerste verdieping moeten
|
||
zijn.
|
||
|
||
Daar aangekomen rekenen we bij de kassa 7,50 euro per persoon af.
|
||
|
||
Blijkt dit museum een tijdelijk tentoonstelling te zijn van de PTT in vroegere tijden, in een oude kantineruimte van
|
||
een PTT EKP gebouw.
|
||
|
||
Gevuld met een oude vervallen niet werkende modelspoorbaan, wat affisches aan de muur, wat beeldschermen met hoe het
|
||
vroeger bij de PTT eraan toe ging, een oude stoppenkast, een kast waarin je zelf je post kunt sorteren op postcode
|
||
en een bureau waarin je gratis een postkaart mag. versturen...
|
||
|
||
Wat een afgang...
|
||
|
||
Binnen 10 minuten heb je het wel gezien.
|
||
|
||
Misschien voor jonge kinderen nog een beetje leerzaam maar volwassen hebben hier niets te zoeken.
|
||
|
||
En beslist geen 7,50 euro (volwassenen) waard.
|
||
|
||
Het gratis aangeboden lekkere verse en goed warme koffie maakte het nog een beetje goed.'

text: 'De tentoonstelling in dit multiculturele gebouw gaat over Roosendaal en omstreken, de geschiedenis, welke rol het

||
speelde in de 80 jarige oorlog en erna en hoe belangrijk het internationale treinstation was in begin van de 20 ste

||
eeuw. Er valt veel te lezen maar ook te zien.
|
||
|
||
Naast het museumgedeelte is er ook een filmtheater en podium voor optredens. Er is een heuse bar en heel vriendelijk
|
||
personeel, veelal vrijwilligers die graag bereid zijn e.e.a. te vertellen over de expositie en over de stad zelf. Bezoek
|
||
is zeker de moeite waard.'

text: 'Het Tongerlohuys te Roosendaal was een refugium van de Abdij van Tongerlo .

||
Een refugium , was voor de bewoners van abdijen en kloosters een toevluchtshuis waar ze terecht konden in perioden waarin

zij zich , door oorlog of andere onrust , niet veilig voelden in hun dikwijls afgelegen hoofdverblijf.
|
||
|
||
Het was vaak een versterkt stenen huis binnen de stadsmuur.
|
||
|
||
Niet alleen kloosterlingen konden een veilig heenkomen in een refugium vinden ; ook kostbaarheden en relieken uit de
|
||
kloosters werden er heen gebracht in tijden van onrust.
|
||
|
||
|
||
Het Tongerlohuys dateert uit 1762.
|
||
|
||
Het heeft 2 lage vleugels aan de voorzijde en een galerij aan de tuinzijde.
|
||
|
||
Enkele kamers in het hoofdgebouw hebben nog het originele stucwerk en schouw . In de 19de-eeuw , toen het gebouw als
|
||
pastorie in gebruik was , werd een eenvoudige huiskapel ingericht.
|
||
|
||
|
||
Thans is het stadsmuseum in dit huis gevestigd . Hier wordt het '''' Verhaal van Roosendaal '''' verteld aan de hand
|
||
van vijf figuren - het Liga meisje, meneer pastoor , de conducteur , de burgemeester en een wisselende figuur , die
|
||
het heden met het heden verbinden.
