hier binnen te wippen. Wat een aangename verrassing. Mooi opgezet, informatief,

vrijwilligers met kennis en enthousiasme. Zeker een bezoek waard! Kinderen vinden

||
het erg leuk om interactief dingen te kunnen doen en zien. Spreekbeurten voor

school zijn al gekozen!

van verschillende onderwerpen. Veel geleerd van de vrijwilligers die zeer vriendelijk

||
zijn en veel wisten te vertellen over het museum. Ik waardeer de tijd en moeite
|
||
van de vrijwilligers. Wat ook leuk was om te bezichtigen is de schatkamer waar
|
||
je resten van mammoeten en 1 paard kon bezichtigen. Zeker een aanrader.

aandacht. Het project “Traditionele Ambachten Varend Erfgoed” (TAVE) beoogt

||
dit “tij te keren”. Een initiatief van voorzitter Rolf van der Mark van het

||
Historisch Bedrijfsvaartuig (LVBHB).

||

||

||
Uit een scala van scheepsambachten zijn vier technieken gekozen met maatschappelijke
|
||
relevantie ten behoeve van het behoud (in originele staat!) van de huidige collectie
|
||
Varend Erfgoed. Concreet gaat het om klinken, staaldraad splitsen, rondhouten
|
||
maken en huidgangen (planken) krombranden.
|
||
|
||
|
||
Het project wordt uitgevoerd in 2017 met Petra Spithost als de projectleider.
|
||
De hoop van de initiatiefnemers is dat dit het begin wordt van een “revival”
|
||
van scheepsambachten en dat dit initiatief een vruchtbaar vervolg krijgt!
|

Nu kan je de film zien die Christiaan Pen gemaakt heeft door zijn camera aan

de top van de mast van de Vriendentrouw vast te maken. Het hele traject heeft
|
||
de bemanning bomend en jagend afgelegd. Je ziet de jaaglijn steeds vooruit schieten
|
||
of een vaarboom langs zwiepen. Af en toe zie je de wolken: dan moet de mast
|
||
gestreken worden voor een kwakeltje, het vaste loopbruggetje naast de ophaalbrug,
|
||
met 1,60 doorvaarthoogte. De forse stortbui onderweg vertroebelt even de lens,
|
||
maar direct daarna klaart het weer op. In ruim anderhalve minuut vaar je door
|
||
dit ongerepte Zuid-Hollandse landschap.'

De binnenvaart, daar is Nederland ooit groot mee geworden. Het is begonnen met

de turfvaart. Dat was de motor van de economie vroeger. De binnenvaart heeft

natuurlijk een enorme schaalvergroting ondergaan. Dit soort historische bedrijfsvaartuigen
|
||
zijn tegenwoordig notendopjes vergeleken met wat er nu rondvaart. Op het moment
|
||
dat een schip meer dan 50 jaar is en nog een historisch casco heeft, het liefst
|
||
natuurlijk nog veel meer, dan noemen we het varend erfgoed. De oudste typen
|
||
zeilende schepen met name zijn de Tjalken en de Klippers. Van iets latere datum
|
||
heb je motorschepen, luxe motoren. We bestaan nu 42 jaar en dat betekent dat
|
||
dit de 42e manifestatie is. Wij maken ons sterk om dit soort bedrijfsvaartuigen,
|
||
voormalige bedrijfsvaartuigen, in de vaart te houden, om die te behouden. In
|
||
het midden van de vorige eeuw zijn heel veel schepen uit de vaart gehaald en
|
||
zijn gesloopt. We hebben in Nederland nog geluk gehad dat er toen ook woningnood
|
||
was. Een heleboel schepen zijn uiteindelijk behouden, omdat de eigenaren er
|
||
op gingen wonen. Daarmee kunnen we met trots zeggen dat we nu de grootste vloot
|
||
varend erfgoed ter wereld hebben. Maar ook hier geldt dat steeds meer schepen
|
||
ook verdwijnen. Er wordt veel verkocht naar Engeland en Frankrijk. Daar zijn
|
||
ze heel populair. We moeten er echt voor vechten om die schepen te behouden.
|
||
Het probleem met dit soort schepen is dat de overheid steeds meer regels stelt
|
||
om te kunnen blijven varen. Steeds meer apparatuur is er nodig. Dat is voor
|
||
sommige schippers gewoon een forse investering. Er zijn schippers die zeggen:
|
||
‘Ja nou… dat hoeft voor mij niet meer’. Als je zo’n groot schip hebt moet je
|
||
hem eigenlijk wel gebruiken. Als je hem alleen voor de deur hebt als ‘jacht’,
|
||
dan is het een hele dure hobby. De grotere schepen van meer dan 20 meter, die
|
||
worden heel vaak ook bewoond. Dat doen we zelf ook. We wonen er op en daarmee
|
||
gebruiken we hem. We komen daardoor ook meer aan onderhoud toe. Om de 2 tot
|
||
3 jaar moet het schip eruit, om de 6 jaar moet het schip gekeurd worden. Op
|
||
het moment dat er teveel ijzer weggegaan is door roest of door wat voor oorzaak
|
||
dan ook, dan moet dat vervangen worden en dat zijn gewoon hele dure reparaties.
|
||
Vreeswijk heeft een Museumwerf en die heeft een hele rijke historie op het gebied
|
||
de scheepvaart. Het is hier ook een knooppunt van waterwegen. De bijna 200 schepen
|
||
kunnen hier nu terecht. Ik heb respect voor iedere eigenaar die met veel liefde
|
||
en passie en veel energie aan gewerkt heeft. En volgend jaar gaan we naar Hasselt
|
||
en het jaar daarop gaan we naar Leiden. En 2019 is nog vacant, dat gaan we aanstaande
|
||
vergadering beslissen. Dat betekent gewoon een stuk aandacht voor dit type schepen!'
