text: Wat een super interessant museum met 2 separate collecties. Een over de

Peel als biotoop met diverse diersoorten uit heden en verleden en natuurlijk
|
||
de andere collectie over de historie van klokken (en andere geluidsmakers) vanaf
|
||
de oudheid uitlopend tot bellen en gegoten klokken. Door de uitgebreide benadering
|
||
van historie en productie, inclusief het stemmen en repareren van klokken en
|
||
het totaalbeeld blijft het museum boeien. De geschiedenis en de ontwikkeling
|
||
van het klokkenmaken blijft boeien. De medewerkers zijn zeer enthousiast over
|
||
hun mooie museum en zijn ook graag bereid om nadere uitleg over de klokken te
|
||
geven. Er zijn voldoende parkeerplaatsen naast het museum dat in een verbouwde
|
||
historische boerderij is ondergebracht. In het museum is overigens ook nog een
|
||
horecavoorziening met een leuk terras en toegang tot een mooi parkje. Beslist
|
||
een bezoek waard, ga er naar toe!

||
januari. Wij interviewen bedrijfsleider van Klimaat de Baas en
|
||
minister-president Mark Rutte en tenslotte mensen op straat. We
|
||
schakelen nu over naar interviewer Anouk Steijvers in Someren-Heide.
|
||
Wat vindt u ervan dat mensen bomen omkappen, maar geen bomen meer
|
||
terugplaatsen. Ik vind het echt heel erg dat mensen dit de
|
||
wereld aandoen. Het is echt een ramp, er moet echt het zijn gedaan worden.
|
||
Dank u wel voor het interview. We schakelen weer over naar de studio.
|
||
We zijn nu bij het Binnenhof. We gaan zo Mark Rutte interviewen en nu
|
||
schakelen we over naar onze interviewer Anouk. We hebben een mail
|
||
ontvangen van Klimaat de Baas. Zij hebben een idee bedacht en
|
||
wij gaan dat nu uitwerken zodat jullie het beter snappen. Wij
|
||
hebben hier een boom. Mensen hakken bomen heel vaak om. Dat mag,
|
||
maar we vinden wel dat je iets terug moet doen. Daarom zeggen we dat
|
||
je per omgekapte boom twee nieuwe bomen moet terugplaatsen. Als
|
||
je dat niet doet kan je een boete krijgen van €500. Want
|
||
er hangen allemaal camera''s in het bos en daarmee houden ze het in
|
||
de gaten. Ook hebben we een idee verzonnen voor de plastic soep.
|
||
Vissersboten hebben een net achter hun boot hangen. Dat was al
|
||
zo, maar vanaf nu hebben ze ook een pot die vissen afschrikt.
|
||
De vissen gaan naar beneden, maar gaan er niet dood van, want dat zouden
|
||
ook heel zonde vinden. Het jaagt de vissen wel weg en dus vangen
|
||
de netten geen vissen maar wel de plastic soep. We hebben nog
|
||
een idee voor het zwerfafval. De handhaving houdt de stad in de gaten;
|
||
ze hebben camera''s bij de winkels hangen en ze gaan dagelijks langs
|
||
de camera''s om te kijken wie er afval weggooit en wat het is.
|
||
Je kan wel een boete van €3000 krijgen. Ze ruimen het afval op
|
||
en maken de stad schoon. In een normaal dorp houden de gewone mensen het
|
||
ook in de gaten. Bij huizen is het verplicht om de camera''s neer te
|
||
hangen Dan komen er mensen van de gemeente langs en dan kunnen
|
||
we kijken wie het was en dan kunnen ze hun ook een boete
|
||
geven van €3000. Dit was het idee. Goedenavond allemaal, welkom bij deze
|
||
persconferentie over het klimaat. We gaan bij deze persconferentie 3
|
||
nieuwe wetten invoeren. Dit is de eerste wet. Iedere keer als
|
||
iemand een boom omhakt (dat mag nog steeds allemaal), moeten
|
||
er twee teruggeplaatst worden, zodat er steeds meer bomen in de wereld
|
||
staan. De volgende wet is: er moeten bij de vissersboten netten
|
||
achter de boten worden gehangen met potten eronder waar een geur
|
||
uitkomt die de vissen wegjaagt. De netten vangen dan al
|
||
het plastic op van de plastic soep en de andere dingen die in de zee
|
||
worden geloosd. Dan hebben we nog een nieuwe wet en dat is dat
|
||
vanaf nu de handhaving in de stad er meer op gaat letten dat mensen
|
||
geen afval op straat gooien. En als je afval weggooit dan kun
|
||
je boetes krijgen tot wel €3000. In de dorpen worden er camera''s opgehangen
|
||
bij elk huis; dat wordt verplicht. En als iemand dan afval
|
||
weggooit kan de gemeente die mensen een boete geven tot wel €3000.
|
||
Dat was de persconferentie. Bedankt voor het kijken. Tot de volgende
|
||
keer. Mark Rutte de persconferentie ging heel goed. Wat vindt
|
||
u van de nieuwe wetten. Ik vind het prachtig. Supergoede wetten
|
||
en hopelijk gaat het goed werken. Ze worden ingevoerd op 1 februari.

Wat vindt u ervan dat Mark Rutte zo tevreden is over de nieuwe
|
||
wetten. Bedankt, Mark Rutte, ik had nooit gedacht dat dit zou gebeuren.

die Mark Rutte heeft ingevoerd voor het klimaat en die op
|

1 februari ingaan. Ik vind het prachtige wetten. Ik ben ontzettend
|
||
blij dat deze zijn ingevoerd. Want nu gaat het echt hoogstwaarschijnlijk
|
||
veel beter. Bedankt voor uw antwoord. Wat vindt u van de wetten
|
||
die Mark Rutte heeft ingediend over het klimaat. Ik vind het eigenlijk
|
||
wel goede wetten. Ik ben benieuwd hoe het uit gaat pakken, of
|
||
dat er protest gaat komen of dat iedereen het een hele goede
|
||
wet vindt. Maar ik vind het in ieder geval een goede wet. Bedankt voor
|
||
uw antwoord. Wat vindt u van de wetten die Mark Rutte heeft ingediend
|
||
bij de persconferentie over het klimaat. Ik vind het zelf supergoede
|
||
wetten. Nu gaan de vissen misschien niet zo snel dood. En ja,

niet dat ik zelf zo van vissen houd enzo, maar het is gewoon goed voor

says it all: it is a very camouflaged moth. We know two variants, a white

one with black speckles and an almost black moth. They are encountered in

nature, in forests and gardens. It is a moth flying at night and often found

resting during the day on birches. As you probably know, birch

trees have white trunks. This means that the white moth is very hard to see
|
||
against the birch trunks and so it will also remain unnoticed by its predators.

So the birds don''t see it. While the black moth is very noticable against

the white birch trunks and it will be eaten faster and so it has a way smaller

chance to reproduce. Untill the 19th century only the white variant

||
of the moth was known. Till they discovered a black moth in England. And when

the black moth also increased its numbers considerably, they started doing
|
||
research on these moths. And what turned out: in England the industrial revolution

||
starts and that goes hand in hand with soot emission and the white birch
|
||
trunks are no longer white, but become black. and the white moth is suddenly
|
||
noticeable, but the black one has good camouflage. So the black moth is
|
||
eaten less fast and has a bigger chance to reproduce and it that is exactly

what it does. And that''s why the ratio of 99 white against 1 black moth is
|
||
reversed to 99 black against 1 white moth. That''s a big difference! Nowadays

||
we pay a bit more attention to soot emission and the birch trunks are white

This originates from Hattem, a small town at the shores of the river IJssel.
|
||
In Hattem it told the time for hundreds of years. And when we give the pendulum
|
||
a boost, it starts to tick. This clock has two striking mechanisms.
|
||
Upon the half hour the far mechanism will start turning and strikes
|
||
those bells up high. Upon the whole hour it strikes the bell here.
|
||
In 1635 they added this big extension: a drum to play a tune on the carillon.
|
||
This tune was needed, because people often made mistakes counting the time.
|
||
When the clocks would start to sound all of a sudden, people could be too
|
||
busy to notice them start and might miss a beat, thereby missing
|
||
the time by an hour. That is why they added this big drum in
|
||
Hattem in 1635. This drum starts a melody, thereby stating: "Please
|
||
start paying attention, time indication is coming up". When the melody is
|
||
done, the striking mechanism starts and the bells start to toll.
|
||
We call this a carillon, beiaard in Flemish or klokkenspel in
|
||
Dutch. The smaller carillons are also called ''wekkering'' in
|
||
Dutch, meaning ''wakening up''. This exactly says what it is: before
|
||
striking the time, people are woken up: please start to pay attention,
|
||
the bells will start striking the time. This drum caused public space
|
||
to cheer up. They say: in the Netherlands time sings! The Dutch
|
||
people hardly notice this, as it has become very normal. But the
|
||
truth is: this drum is unique! Only in the ''Low Lands'' (Netherlands,
|
||
Flanders) we know this drum that produces free music for everyone.

de enige kikker waarvan het mannetje tijdens de paartijd die mooie blauwe

kleur krijgt, zoals je hier kunt zien. Het specifieke van de heikikker

is dat de heikikker hier bij ons in de buurt tevoorschijn komt in de

tweede week van maart. Dan zie je dus de mannetjes op een gegeven

moment met zijn allen lekker in de zon liggen wachten op de vrouwtjes.

||
Soms wel 50-100 van die kopjes. Je moet wel heel stil zijn,
|
||
want zodra je beweegt, duiken ze allemaal onder. Maar als je stil
|
||
blijft zitten, dan zie al die kopjes boven water uitsteken.
|
||
Dan komt er een vrouwtje aangelopen en dat vrouwtje wordt, als ze in
|
||
de buurt van het water komt, besprongen door het eerste
|
||
en snelste mannetje. Dat mannetje springt op de rug van het vrouwtje.
|
||
Dan krijg je de amplex en dan loopt het vrouwtje met het
|
||
mannetje op de rug naar het water. En in het water worden de eitjes door het
|
||
vrouwtje losgelaten en die worden terwijl ze losgelaten
|
||
worden, bevrucht door het mannetje. Dat duurt ongeveer een à anderhalf
|
||
uur. Als het vrouwtje klaar is, dan verdwijnt ze weer het bos in. Het
|
||
mannetje gaat weer terug naar het koor en dan begint het hele verhaal
|
||
weer opnieuw. Het is zo''n apart geval! Het komt eigenlijk alleen
|
||
maar voor in de Peel en op de Strabrechtse Hei bij het Beuven. Dus
|
||
de clou is dat je de heikikker alleen maar kunt waarnemen bij ons in
|
||
de buurt, in die ene week in maart dat ze tevoorschijn komen.
|
||
Als je dat niet doet, dan zitten ze weer in de bossen, dan
|
||
lijken ze op de bruine kikker en daar kun je ze dan niet meer van onderscheiden.
|
||
Als de zon schijnt en je ziet die blauwe beesten: dat is echt ongelooflijk!
|
||
Dan snap je niet dat dat voor de rest van het jaar, die 51 weken,
|
||
weer een gewone bruine kikker is. Ik heb nu het verhaal
|
||
van de blauwe kikker verteld. Het nadeel is natuurlijk dat als je die
|
||
in de natuur wilt zien dat daar dan maar één week voor ter beschikking
|
||
staat. Dus als je hem het hele jaar door wil zien, dan moet je
|
||
daarvoor naar Museum Klok & Peel komen, want wij hebben hem hier
|
||

bird. It stays in Holland during the winter. It doesn't breed

a bird of prey, although it is a song bird. Every winter about three- to four-hundred

great grey shrikes fly to the Netherlands. In the National

Park of the Groote Peel we generally see four or five birds and the same number

on the Strabrecht Moorland. They need a large territory for hunting.

||
They protect their territory and scare off other great grey shrikes and other

||
birds, even birds of prey. Because where a great grey shrike lives, no other
|
||
bird may hunt. Look, here it is. When the sun shines it is much whiter.

||
It has the typical beak of a bird of prey. The great grey shrike sits in a
|
||
tree top to keep an eye on its surroundings. It hunts up whatever prey it
|
||
sees moving: A beetle, a lizard, birds and mice. It especially
|
||
loves mice. Mice are also rather nourishing, Beause they relatively have a
|
||
lot of mass and calories. It is better for the bird to catch one mouse than

ten beetles. Whenever it has eaten enough for the day, it pins

||
any extra catch on barbed wire or a thorn, and saves it for next

of its old age. The bell is more than 800 years old and is has a unique inscription.

The bell is inscripted with the words ‘Ave Maria’, which is the start of the

for all. And maybe, this is a similar case. So the inscription is probably
|
||
mirror written on purpose. Second option: the bell is the voice of god. She
|
||
is consecrated and god can look through the bell, and would be able to read
|
||
what’s written on it. Another idea: maybe this is a little bit weird for us,
|
||
but in the middle ages it wasn’t. When the bell tolls, the blessing of the
|
||
prayer will spread over the community. That was the purpose for this kind
|
||
of inscriptions for bells: spreading the blessing of the prayer over the community.

||
And so you might think: when the bell tolls, the inscription will be printed
|

\ beroemde oorlogsbegraafplaats. Alle 50 klokken zijn nu voor het eerst terug\
|

\ in Nederland om herstemd te worden bij klokkengieterij Koninklijke Eijsbouts\
|
||
\ in Asten. Ze keren later dit jaar weer terug, vergezeld door drie nieuwe klokken\
|
||
\ die in april worden gegoten en opgedragen worden aan drie Amerikanen die vochten\
|
||
\ voor de vrijheid: George Marshall, Martin Luther King en Eleanor Roosevelt.\
|
||
\ \n\nOver de bizarre geschiedenis van dit monument, schreef VU-hoogleraar Diederik\
|
||
\ Oostdijk het boek Bells for America (Penn State University Press, 2019) dat\
|
||
\ op 30 april 2020 ook in een Nederlandse bewerking, Klokken voor Amerika, zal\
|
||
\ verschijnen bij Boom Uitgevers. Op die dag zou ook de gelijknamige tentoonstelling\
|
||
\ starten in Museum Klok & Peel, waarvan Luc Rombouts de curator is, die uitgesteld\
|
||
\ is door de coronacrisis.\n\nDe geschiedenis van het Nederlandse Carillon bevat\
|
||
\ een onbekend, maar bijzonder verhaal. Het gaat om het kleinste klokje, dat\
|
||
\ door koningin Juliana aan president Truman gegeven zou worden, maar zoek was\
|
||
\ geraakt. Hierdoor kwam de koningin op 4 april 1942 met lege handen te staan.\
|
||
\ Dit klokje werd later op de kanselarij in Washington teruggevonden en heeft\
|
||
\ decennialang op de ambassade gestaan. Vanaf het kleinste klokje dat kwijtgeraakt\
|
||
\ was leek alles mis te gaan wat mis kon gaan:\n\nDe meest verstrekkende fout\
|
||
\ was om de opdracht voor de klokken te gunnen aan drie klokkengieters waardoor\
|
||
\ het carillon dissonant klonk. Nederlanders wilden tot overmaat van ramp nauwelijks\
|
||
\ geld geven aan het instrument, gedeeltelijk vanwege zuinigheid maar ook omdat\
|
||
\ veel Nederlanders boos op de Amerikanen waren omdat ze door hen Nederlands-Indië\
|
||
\ zouden hebben verloren. \nGerrit Rietveld werd in 1956 als architect voor\
|
||
\ de klokkentoren teruggetrokken door minister van Buitenlandse Zaken Joseph\
|
||
\ Luns en ambassadeur Herman van Roijen vanwege zijn vermeende communistische\
|
||
\ sympathieën.\nEen Amerikaanse veteranenorganisatie (AMVETS) protesteerde tegen\
|
||
\ koningin Juliana omdat ze niet wilden dat het Nederlandse monument in Arlington\
|
||
\ kwam.\nDe National Park Service restaureert nu de klokkentoren voor een bedrag\
|
||
\ van ruim $ 4.5 en de Nederlandse overheid en een aantal sponsoren laat het\
|
||
\ carillon herstellen voor een bedrag van ruim € 800.000. De klokken van het\
|
||
\ Netherlands Carillon zijn allemaal opgedragen aan een onderdeel van de Nederlandse\
|
||
\ bevolking en zijn de meest rijk geillustreerde bronzen carillonklokken ooit\
|
||
\ gemaakt. Ze geven een uniek zelfbeeld van Nederland in de naoorlogse periode,\
|
||
\ maar laten ons ook reflecteren op hoe de relatie met Amerika is veranderd\
|
||
\ sinds die tijd en hoe we er nu voorstaan.\n\nTentoonstelling geraliseerd in\

\ samenwerking met: Singing Bronze Foundation, Koninklijke Eijsbouts, Provincie\

\ door de Nederlandse ambassadeur in de Verenigde Staten, André Haspels. \n\n\

||
Geboorte van drie nieuwe klokken\nOp vrijdag 11 april is een nieuwe klok is\
|
||
\ gegoten voor het ‘Netherlands Carillon’ Er volgen er nog twee. Deze drie klokken\
|
||
\ zijn genoemd naar drie Amerikaanse burgers die zich in de vorige eeuw op eigen\
|
||
\ wijze hebben ingezet voor de vrijheid: George C. Marshall, Eleanor Roosevelt\
|
||
\ en Martin Luther King. Het carillon krijgt met de 3 nieuwe klokken een upgrade\
|
||
\ naar een Grand American Carillon, waarmee muzikaal meer mogelijk is. \nBij\
|
||
\ klokkengieterij Koninklijke Eijsbouts wordt het complete Netherlands Carillon\
|
||
\ uit 1953 gerestaureerd en herstemd. Museum Klok & Peel is al vanaf het begin\
|
||
\ bij het project ‘The completion of a grand gift’ betrokken. The Netherlands\
|
||
\ Carillon is een tijdscapsule van de jaren ’50. \nBijzondere verhalen en geheimen\
|
||
\ worden niet alleen in het boek, maar ook in de tentoonstelling onthuld. Bijzonder\
|
||
\ is dat 18 van de 53 klokken tijdelijk te zien zijn in de expositie. In de\
|
||
\ livestream van 30 april zullen enkele klokken worden getoond. \n\nBetekenisvol\n\
|
||
Het Netherlands Carillon was bedoeld als een symbool van internationale solidariteit.\
|
||
\ Net als de klokken in een carillon, moeten grote en kleine landen in de wereld\

\ samenwerken om een harmonieus geluid voort te brengen. Juist tijdens de huidige\
|
||
\ internationale coronacrisis is het streven van het Netherlands Carillon naar\

\ harmonie een inspirerend verhaal dat iedereen in Nederland en Amerika moet\
