text: Al eeuwenlang komen op deze plaats de leden van de Illustre Lieve Vrouwe Broederschap samen. Onder andere via Jeroen

Bosch en de Sint Jan is dit bijzondere gezelschap onlosmakelijk aan de geschiedenis van 's-Hertogenbosch verbonden.
|
||
De rondleiding van ca. anderhalf uur is zeer zeker de moeite waard. Vooraf reserveren kan, maar gewoon binnenlopen mag
|
||
ook. De vrijwilligers zijn erg gastvrij en vertellen graag meer over de rijke geschiedenis van dit prachtige pand en
|
||
de Broederschap.

text: 'Sinds 1483 het huis van het illustre Lieve Vrouw Broederschap , een oecumenisch genootschap dat in 1318 in Den

Bosch werd opgericht.

Het broederschap is ontstaan in de 14de-eeuw , toen een groep religieuzen in Den Bosch zich bezighield met de verering

van Maria en de armenzorg .

In de loop der tijd werd het broederschap steeds rijker.
|
||
|
||
|
||
Bij het 500-jarig bestaan van de broederschap in 1818 wordt aan de latere Koning Willem II gevraagd om zich aan te sluiten.

||
|
||
Na deze eerste Koninklijke Zwanen-
|
||
|
||
broeder volgen er meer : nu dragen ook Koning Willem-Alexander , Prinses Beatrix en Prinses Irene deze titel.
|
||
|
||
|
||
Waar komt de aparte naam vandaan?
|
||
|
||
Naar het schijnt werden er vroeger overdadige maaltijden genuttigd . Een ware delicatesse was zwanenvlees .
|
||
|
||
Zo werd "Zwanenbroeder" een eretitel voor invloedrijke personen uit hoge kringen .
