||
A well-curated museum with indigenous displays on the top floor, while Spanish and German-influenced exhibits are on either side of the ground floor entrance. Attractive views over the river to the city centre from the front of the museum.
|
||
|
||
My favourite exhibits were connected to Roberto Mahler, relative of Gustav, and the development of Western classical music in Valdivia. Surprisingly, the museum does not include reference to the major earthquake of 1960 and its consequences.
|
||
|
||
The car and pedestrian entrance to the museum complex is not clearly marked, although there are clear signposts to the various buildings from within the site.
|
||
|
||
The Contemporary Art Gallery that was - perhaps will still be? - adjacent to this museum is currently a building site.

||
A museum really champurreao, that's kinda all over the place with pre historic pottery and artifacts from sites near Valdivia, indigenous silver jewelry and it's meaning.

A lot of German settler's history and pieces from the 1800's
|
||

||
There's a room arranged as Spanish people would have it in the 1500's or 1600's with the brasero and an Arab style sitting arrangement where women would prepare hot yerba mate🧉 for visitors and enjoy music or poetry, with typical European tapestry on the walls.
|
||
|
||
It's free for students and $1500 for everyone else. The house and the view from the garden to the river are stunning. You can view the whole thing slow or fast in 1 to 1 and a half hours. As an archeology nerdy I approve. They're preparing more indigenous related exhibitions wich I love.
