The building of the Millet Manuscript Library was built on 1112 Hijri / 1700-1701 A.D. by the Seyyid Feyzullah Efendi

from Erzurum , who was the Ottoman Shaykh , as a Hadith Madrasa ( Hadith Sciences School ) . The library was established
|
||
on April 17th , 1916 by Ali Emîrî Effendi ( 1857-1924 ) who loved his Folks as much as to say , " I have collected these
|
||
books for my Folks , I give them to my Folks as a present , that''s why my library''s name will be Millet ( Folks )
|
||
Library , not Ali Emîrî . " . It is a research and specialization library , where there are rare printed books and Ottoman
|
||
printed works including collections of Ali Emîrî and Feyzullah Efendi . It has around 30.000 pieces . The library consists
|
||
of two divisions ; the main building and the madrasah . The main building consists of 2 halls , with domed spaces symmetrical
|
||
to each other , accessed via a stone staircase from the garden . These halls are used as Museum and Reading Hall today
|
||
. The madrasah division consists of 10 cubicles in L - shape . These are used as book storerooms and administrative
|
||
division . In the garden , there is a water - tank with a fountain , and a well ; on its lateral facade , a magnificent
|
||
fountain with an epitaph and bird houses'
