I am writing from the Global GLAM Dataset project, an open research initiative documenting heritage institutions worldwide using LinkML schema and Linked Open Data standards.
|
|
|
|
We have extracted and geocoded data for **97 Brazilian heritage institutions** from archival research, including:
|
|
- Biblioteca Nacional do Brasil (Rio de Janeiro)
|
|
- Arquivo Nacional (Brasília)
|
|
- Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP)
|
|
- Museu Nacional (Rio de Janeiro)
|
|
- Instituto Moreira Salles
|
|
- And 92 additional museums, libraries, and archives across 27 states
|
|
|
|
To enhance data quality and enable international interoperability, we seek access to official **ISIL (ISO 15511)** codes for Brazilian institutions.
|
|
|
|
**Questions**:
|
|
1. Is Biblioteca Nacional do Brasil the designated ISIL national registration agency for Brazil?
|
|
2. Does a public ISIL registry or directory exist for Brazilian heritage institutions?
|
|
3. If available, can we access it for academic research purposes (CC-BY 4.0 license)?
|
|
4. What is the process for obtaining ISIL codes for institutions that currently lack them?
|
|
|
|
Our dataset follows international standards (PROV-O, Dublin Core, Schema.org) and will credit all data sources. The project aims to improve global discoverability of cultural heritage collections.

4. **Follow-up Timeline**: If no response after 2 weeks (by 2025-11-27), send follow-up email
|

5. **Alternative Contacts**: If primary contact doesn't respond, try alternative agencies listed above
