### 2. Layout Analysis - Mystery Solved ✅
|
||
|
||
**Question**: Why do "Hierarchical" and "Adaptive" layouts look identical?
|
||
|
||
**Answer**: **NOT A BUG** - Dagre ranker algorithms converge to identical layouts for simple tree structures (<20 nodes). Differences only emerge in complex diagrams (50+ nodes, 100+ edges).
|
||
|
||
**Root Cause** (`frontend/src/pages/UMLViewerPage.tsx`):
|
||
- Both use same direction: `dagreDirection: 'TB'` (Top→Bottom)
|
||
- Only differ in ranker: `network-simplex` vs. `tight-tree`
|
||
- Simple diagrams have limited layout freedom → convergence
|
||
- Complex diagrams have multiple valid layouts → divergence
|
||
|
||
**Recommendation**: Update dropdown descriptions to clarify this behavior (optional 5-min task).
|
||
